It helps separate the foreground a lot better than just usin' black. Except then sometimes people will just outline their guys with a darker shade of the fill color, which totally defeats the purpose of giving your outlines color in the first place :p

I love your style in this one, man. The characters look very cool and the animation is super smooth, while your "semi-3D"-esque elements add so much depth to it. Awesome!

Only slightly negative thing is that it sadly ended super abrupt.

Glad you said that, my goal was to make After Effects-ish stuff in Flash. (Mostly overlay upon blurry symbols, bunch of weird brush crap made in Ps too.)
